SLAVERY IS THE ULTIMATE SECURITY . . .

How much of your freedom will you relinquish because of fear?

Our natural human tendency is to allow our personal responsibility and freedom to be eroded in the face of threats to our security and safety. It is a tenet of communism that adversity breeds reliance, that hunger and danger are simply means to achieve devotion to the State.

Government's natural tendency is to believe itself more capable of caring for the people than the people themselves, and it invariably uses the force of violence and extortion to assume the responsibility to do so.

Thus, in conceiving a governing document for the new United States of America, a Bill of Rights was added in amendments to the Constitution solely for the purpose of circumventing this natural tendency of government. We have allowed it to be ignored. We must reject the security of slavery and regain the rights - and responsibilities - of self-government based on the Bill of Rights.

The Founding Fathers who declared our independence and our fundamental rights were unwilling to be slaves. They chose freedom over security, and relinquished their "right" to be owned, choosing instead the responsibility of self-government.

What is legitimate government?

The Bill of Rights is a logically consistent approach to government based on the moral principle of self-ownership. Each individual has the right to control his or her own body, action, speech, and property. Government's only role is to help individuals defend themselves from force and fraud.

Our government instead uses force and fraud to dictate what we can do to or with our own bodies even when it affects no one else, what opinions or beliefs we can voice, where we go, who we can associate with, how we spend our money, and what we can own. We are enslaved by the government we expect to protect us.

The Republicans and Democrats are no different in their commitment to expand government's power to invade our privacy, confiscate our property, dictate our morality, erode our individuality, and destroy our liberty. The Libertarian party is the only political means I know of for regaining legitimate government. I will never again vote for anyone else.
